Too much social TV….

I have recently become an avid fan of mixing social networking with TV via new apps such as ZeeBox and GetGlue among others. TV of course has always been a social event between families and friends and of course it brought people together over coffee in the office the next day. You know the “Did you see such and such last night?” However with these apps TV becomes much more social in an instant, of course Twitter has been doing this for awhile. Now however you can see in one place what is on, who is watching what, what they think of it as well as being an outlet for leading you to other apps and other items you may like. It also allows those who make TV see at an instant how their offerings are being taken. The end of market research is nigh perhaps? On a personal level I find that if I sit down to watch TV have to have a smartphone or ipad and I wonder am I really giving the program my full attention? After all you would not bring you ipad to the Theater would you ? Also I have become ever so slightly concerned that by using these Apps I am watching more TV than I normally do as I get involved via the app. And while I really like the likes of Zeebox and GetGlue I am putting a time limit on my TV viewing from now on. So from tomorrow I shall be rationing my TV intake. Quality before quantity.
